Tribal ATS:
ATS è l’acronimo per American Tribal Style, una particolare fusion ideata da Carolena Nericcio nel 1987, che mette insieme passi e postura della danza orientale, degli stili popolari del Nord Africa con elementi mutuati dal flamenco ,dalla danza indiana e dalle danze popolari e gitane dei paesi balcanici. Con la sua compagnia Fat Chance Bellydance, Carolena Nericcio voleva contrapporsi a certe degenerazioni moderne della danza del ventre da cabaret, a un’immagine della donna e del corpo femminile come oggetto a uso e consumo del maschio. La danzatrice tribal è una donna determinata e decisa, capace di bastare a sé stessa. Nell’ATS la danza è uno strumento di espressione della donna con le altre donne: c’è un’interazione costante tra leader e gruppo, di cui ciascuna componente diventa, a turno, leader e guida per le compagne con la sua improvvisazione. Nascono così diverse formazioni possibili in cui le danzatrici possono disporsi sulla scena: in un triangolo, in un quadrilatero o in cerchio, e si sviluppa un vero e proprio codice che, attraverso segnali prestabiliti, permette a tutto il gruppo di prevedere quale sarà il prossimo movimento che la leader andrà a eseguire nella sua sequenza di improvvisazione.
Tribal Fusion:
La Tribal Fusion porta la danza orientale ad un nuovo livello, con una maggiore segmentazione del corpo e del tono muscolare. La danzatrice sperimenta nuove energie, nuovi costumi e differenti stili di musica, come l’elettronica, l’indie, dubstep e drum’n’bass, la musica indiana, gothic e rock, ma soprattutto fonde alla danza orientale diversi stili di danze: l’hip hop, il popping, la danza indiana, la hula hawaiana, il flamenco e la danza contemporanea. Quello che ne risulta è una visione totalmente diversa della danzatrice orientale, che assume pose e atteggiamenti alieni, dalle sfumature spesso gotiche.
